Maternity and Women's Health

In LMICs, whilst good progress has been made, high infant mortality remains a significant issue. Medical Aid International offer a range of healthcare solutions which help address this challenge.

Imaging: Ultrasound and Dopplers

We know first hand that in access to reliable ultrasound equipment can transform maternal care. Ultrasound enables early detection of pregnancy complications, ensuring timely intervention and better outcomes for mother and child. The models of ultrasound we supply are used in the British health service.

Our foetal Dopplers are the perfect complement, allowing healthcare professionals to quickly and easily monitor the baby’s heartbeat, providing reassurance and critical diagnostic information.

This equipment significantly reduces infant mortality; investing is this area is often a great return on investment.

Equipping Your Gynaecology and Obstetrics Unit

We are able to supply a variety of relevant furniture, including examination couches, obstetric delivery beds, postnatal care furniture. All designed with comfort, durability and functionality in clinical settings for the LMIC environment in mind.

We can also supply equipment, such as infant radiant warmers and phototherapy lights. These devices play a crucial role in the early care of newborns. Our equipment is designed to be reliable, energy-efficient and easy to operate, making it suitable for a variety of healthcare environments, including those with limited infrastructure.

As part of our commitment to improving neonatal care across LMICs, all of our equipment (where applicable), including patient monitoring solutions, come with neonate, child, and adult accessories.

Together, our furniture and equipment solutions provide a comprehensive foundation for safe and effective maternal and newborn care.

LMIC Infant Incubator: The MediCradle

Every year, 15 million infants are born preterm, and nearly one million of them do not survive due to inadequate access to essential healthcare – particularly infant incubators. In the LMIC environment hospitals can lose multiple infants daily because traditional incubators are prohibitively expensive, difficult to maintain, and unsuitable for challenging environments; the LMIC environment is littered with non-working, Western incubators.

Unlike conventional incubators designed for high-tech, well-funded hospitals, the MediCradle Infant Incubator is engineered specifically for use in resource-limited settings. It is affordable, easy to maintain, and fully compliant with international IEC standards – making it the ultimate life-saving solution for newborns in need.

Key Features and Advantages

1. Reliable Power Supply – Adapts to Any Situation

Power reliability is a major issue in many countries, but the MediCradle ensures uninterrupted operation with its AC power compatibility, smart power management, and battery backup.

2. Maximum Efficiency – Conserves Heat, Extends Battery Life

Traditional incubators are not built for efficiency; the MediCradle is well insulated with thick walls and double-walled door – designed with sustainability in mind.

3. Simple Maintenance & Easy Repairs – Designed for Longevity

Conventional incubators require costly, specialised maintenance. The MediCradle changes that being build for durability and functionality, with easy, low-cost repairs.

4. Advanced Infection Control – Protecting Vulnerable Newborns

Premature infants are highly susceptible to infections, and the MediCradle provides unparalleled protection, with custom air filtration and reusable skin temperature sensors.

5. Additional Features for Enhanced Usability

CPAP Machines

At Medical Aid International, we understand the urgent need for effective respiratory support in LMICs. For newborns with breathing difficulties, particularly premature babies, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines can mean the difference between life and death.

Our CPAP solutions are designed for durability, ease of use, and performance in challenging environments. They provide consistent airway pressure to help infants breathe, reducing the risk of complications and long-term health issues.

Well functioning CPAP machines are vital to reducing infant mortality and giving vulnerable newborns the best possible start in life.

Neonatal Resuscitation Bag

Neonate Emergency Bag - 3a

A vital, life saving tool for the LMIC environment containing all essential items necessary to resuscitate a newborn baby. Emergency resuscitation equipment is a key tool in reducing infant mortality in LMICs.

Contents

  • Reusable neonatal bag/valve/mask (BVM)
  • Airways
  • Stethoscope
  • Penguin suction device

To help support neonatal care in LMICs we have also created a newborn resuscitation flowchart for healthcare professionals. It provides a key protocol for effective neonatal resuscitation.

Other Solutions

Digital X-Ray

Any substantial healthcare facility needs reliable X-Ray. Yet in low resource environments most clinics and hospitals face many challenges in this area which directly can affect the quality of care.

Sterilisation

Sterilisation of medical equipment in LMIC environments is a major challenge, particularly in more rural locations because of an absence of affordable, serviceable, easily usable equipment.
